We all know how daring it can be to label a TV show as ‘the greatest show ever.’
We’ve been there before – Recommending a show to our friends that we’ve just claimed is the best thing since sliced bread, only for them to tap out on episode 2 because it ‘wasn’t for them’.
(We know it’s really because they were on their phone the whole time)
However, when it comes to this series, the statistics don’t lie, especially when Rotten Tomatoes grants the TV series an almost-perfect score.
Directed by Sam Esmail, the director recently associated with Leave the World Behind, it also features the very popular actor Rami Malek.
If you haven’t already guessed it, the show is called Mr. Robot.
The psychological thriller, premiered in 2015, follows Elliot Alderson, a highly intelligent yet unstable cybersecurity engineer who becomes a vigilante hacker by night.
Though the series boomed on Amazon Prime upon its release, not many people have heard of the show – Which is surprising, as it’s got an impressive four seasons, which scooped a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer, with an impressive audience score of 93%.
One fan then boldly declared the show as ‘better than Breaking Bad‘.
Their post on X read: ‘Just finished rewatching MR ROBOT cuz this might be the greatest show ever created on this fkin planet cuz I wanna rewatch it over again & again man it’s even better than Breaking Bad, Sam Esmail and Rami Malek just take a bow. What geniuses. Fkin nailed it. Whaaaata masterpiece.’
Following such a bold claim, fans of both shows are trying to argue which TV show is superior.

Mr Robot has a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes / NBC
On the side of insanely popular Breaking Bad, one Redditor argued that it appeals to ‘broader demographics’ achieving both a mainstream and ‘cult favourite’ status. Whereas Mr. Robot’s ‘heavy tech component alienated millions of less tech minded viewers.’
For some viewers, it wasn’t even a question – They were quick to passionately defend the high place of Breaking Bad saying: ‘Breaking Bad by miles. Best show ever.’
Meanwhile, loyal Mr. Robot fans insisted: ‘Mr Robot is one of the best things I’ve ever seen.’
The fans went on to claim that the ‘rewatch is better’, stating: ‘Rewatching Mr. Robot while knowing where it goes recontextualises everything and there are several “OOOOOOHHH” moments.’
They weren’t the only viewer who felt this way, and another agreed saying: ‘After each rewatch of BB, it gets lower and lower in my rankings. After each rewatch of Mr. Robot, it gets higher and higher in my rankings.’

There’s nothing worse than your favourite TV series coming to end.
But Jeff Bezos has a recommendation for Apple TV users looking for something to binge watch.
In an interview with PEOPLE, Bezos’ fiancée Lauren Sánchez dished the dirt on the couple’s daily life and it turns out they’re just like the rest of us – if we had $189 billion dollars, that is.
When they have time to themselves, Sánchez revealed that they often spend it at home catching up on some TV.
The 54-year-old told the outlet: “My favorite time is when the house is calm and quiet and Jeff and I are deciding what show we’re going to binge that night.
‘It takes a little bit of time to decide,’ she continued. “You can imagine our tastes are a little different. But I love our TV time, we just have the best time.”

As for shows the Amazon founder and his soon-to-be wife would recommend, ‘We recently saw Baby Reindeer, which of course everyone saw,’ she said.
The Netflix limited series tells the shocking true story of its creator, Richard Gadd, who found himself in a terrifying position when he became a victim of stalking.
The show went viral soon after its release on the streaming platform, causing the woman who inspired stalker Martha (played by Jessica Gunning) to step forward and slam Gadd’s claims.
Sánchez continued: “Fallout was also so good. We also just finished Presumed Innocent, which was incredible.”
And, the couple’s final recommendation is underrated Apple TV original, Severance.
The series, which stars Adam Scott and Patricia Arquette, follows employees at a fictional corporation who agree to a ‘severance’ program in which their non-work and personal memories are separated.
The Apple TV synopsis reads: “Mark (Scott) leads a team of office workers whose memories have been surgically divided between their work and personal lives. When a mysterious colleague appears outside of work, it begins a journey to discover the truth about their jobs.”
Bezos and Sánchez ‘loved’ the psychological thriller, which was first released in 2022, but if their endorsement isn’t enough, the show’s Rotten Tomatoes rating might just convince you.
Scoring a 97 percent approval rating amongst critics and 87 percent approval amongst viewers, the show has proved pretty popular. And, Reddit users call it both ‘thrilling’ and ‘mysterious,’ and say it’s ‘very underrated.’
But, don’t worry if you binge the first season in mere days – there’s only seven episodes to get through – a second is due to hit the streaming platform in January of next year.

Not all hope may be lost for one of Disney’s most divisive series.
Almost a year after Star Wars: The Acolyte made its debut on Disney+, there’s new talk of a Season 2 after all – despite an official cancellation.
The show, which aired across June and July 2024, took Star Wars fans into the High Republic era for the first time in live action.
It followed a former Padawan reuniting with her old Jedi Master to investigate a string of mysterious crimes – only to discover something far more sinister going on.
Despite a cliffhanger that teased the possible arrival of Darth Plagueis, The Acolyte was cancelled just a month after the finale aired.
According to Deadline, The Acolyte pulled in 2.7 billion minutes of watch time in 2024, making it the second-most-watched Disney+ original of the year, just behind Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

It even outperformed Ahsoka, which is confirmed to return for Season 2. That kind of viewership could make a solid case for bringing The Acolyte back.
However, the Star Wars spinoff faced backlash for its ‘woke’ themes and contradictions to Star Wars canon, and lost viewership week after week.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the show received 78% from critics and 19% from audiences with mediocre reviews.
“I thought the episodes were good, but not mind-blowing,” wrote one viewer.
“I will bet you that the pitch deck and the season outline were stellar. The end result? Ehhhhhhhhh,” another unenthusiastic viewer added.
Someone else commented: “While not the massive breakout hit I was hoping for The Acolyte was still a really fun series to follow, with some well-choreographed fights and a couple of interesting characters well-acted by Lee Jung-jae and Manny Jacinto.”
Adding to Disney’s hesitation to renew, The Acolyteran ran well over budget, with production costs hitting over $230 million before post-production wrapped, according to Forbes.
Following the release of Season One, Disney Entertainment co-chairman Alan Bergman said: “We were happy with our performance, but it wasn’t where we needed it to be given the cost structure of that title, quite frankly, to go and make a Season 2. So that’s the reason why we didn’t do that.”
And while the viewership numbers were big to start, Deadline reported that nearly all of Disney+’s franchises ‘underperformed last year.’
Nevertheless, if the rumours turn out to be true, at least half of the fanbase will be thrilled to see Season 2 happen.

The Chestnut Man is made up of six episodes (Netflix)
That’s because it’s been out on Netflix since 2021, but is only now getting noticed by film fanatics.
But that doesn’t mean it’s a show to sleep on, because Rotten Tomatoes have given it a coveted 100%.
Titled The Chestnut Man, the six-part series starts off in Copenhagen, Denmark, where a young woman is found brutally murdered in mysterious circumstances.
Her body is uncovered in a playground by police with one of her hands missing.
To make things even stranger, a small man made out of chestnuts is hanging above her.
A young detective named Naia Thulin is put on the case to solve the mystery, along with her new partner Mark Hess.
Together, they find that the chestnut figure is linked to the daughter of a politician who disappeared a year prior to the murder.
Talk of the show has made the rounds of social media, with one user taking to the Netflix Bangers Facebook Group where they were keen to offer up their own verdict on the series.
They wrote: “The Chestnut Man – loved watching it. Finished in two days…! For people who love crime thrillers, recommended.”

Another person agreed, adding: “10/10 definitely one of my favorite thrillers,” before going on to admit: “I watched it in November and I still think from time to time about how great this thriller was.”
A third commented: “Nordic writers NEVER disappoint. This was a great binge.”
And it seems that is the general consensus when it comes to this show.
Over on the Rotten Tomatoes website, critics are in agreement, having rated it a full 100%.
One critic praised: “The Chestnut Man Season 1 was surprisingly chilling, and yet it was such a delightfully dark binge I couldn’t help but love it.”
A second agreed: “The Chestnut Man is a great reminder that the Scandinavians still do this stuff better than anyone. It raises the bar.” They cheekily added: “See it before there’s an American remake.”
And it’s good news for fans of the show – last March, Netflix confirmed the show would return for a sequel series.
What’s On Netflix reported actors Danica Curcic and Mikkel Boe Følsgaard would be back for the follow-up.

With so many streaming services at your disposal – and at the expense of your wallet – it’s getting harder to keep up with all the good stuff.
The likes of Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ and Apple TV+ each have their out standout hits.
Netflix’s upcoming season of You or Apple TV’s mind-bending Severance are probably bound to keep you as a subscriber. But with so many options and rising subscription costs, most of us stick to one or two platforms, or cancel as soon as we’ve binged the shows we signed up for.
So, what about a free streaming platform that boasts top-rated movies and shows?
Tubi is Fox’s completely free streaming service in return for viewing a few ads in between.
The platform originally launched in 2014 but it really started to take off after Fox bought it in 2020. And now with it’s expansive library of content, it’s booming. According to the company, more than 97 million people use it each month, clocking over 10 billion hours of viewing time in 2024 alone.
And if you’re into gritty crime dramas, there’s one show that deserves your attention. As of December 2024, all three seasons of the original Broadchurch are available to stream on Tubi.
Starring David Tennant and Olivia Colman as two detectives, the pair investigate the murder of a young boy in the tight-knit coastal town of Dorset. Originally aired in 2013, the British crime series dives deep into the emotional wreckage left behind by tragedy, offering a bleak yet gripping storyline of uncovering secrets.

It’s also a standout role for David Tennant, showing a more serious and emotionally raw side of the actor best known for playing Doctor Who.
With a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Broadchurch isn’t just another mystery, but I’ll let the fans tell you that.
“Unlike some shows that artificially ramp up the action, Broadchurch methodically builds up the pressure to a conclusion that won’t let you down,” one viewer wrote.
“Simply a well-written, well-produced and well-acted murder mystery that’s a pleasure to watch,” another raved.
Over on Google, another fan of the show praised: “What a show! What an incredible show, the best crime thriller series I have ever watched. The show is too much perfect- be it screenplay, cinematography, acting performances by the best English actors who were extremely realistic and captivating.
“A must watch for all crime thriller lover […]The show is super gripping, unsettling, dark and it’s so addictive.”
According to the platform, Tubi offers ‘the world’s largest collection of movies and TV episodes, including over 300 original exclusive originals’. The best bit is you don’t even need an account to start watching.
Although if British crime drama isn’t your thing, Tubi’s got plenty more to offer, from cult hits like Donnie Darko, What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?, and Cruel Intentions. Meanwhile, horror fans can dive into the Terrifier series, and if you’re in the mood for something offbeat, check out The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent starring Pedro Pascal and Nicolas Cage.
