The movie pulled in just $60 million at the global box office 👀

Netflix quietly added a $130 million blockbuster Marvel film that flopped in theatres.

Superhero movies were in short supply in 2024, with the MCU’s (Marvel Cinematic Universe) only major release being Deadpool & Wolverine.

But among the handful of year’s box office hits, one film still managed to stand out – but for all the wrong reasons.

Kraven The Hunter premiered in cinemas in December 2024. Just three months later, the film is now streaming on Netflix as of today (March 13), marking one of the fastest turnarounds from theatre to streaming.

Despite being based on a popular Marvel character, Kraven isn’t actually part of the MCU. Instead, it joins Sony’s roster of Spider-Man antagonists, alongside Venom, Morbius and Madame Web.

Reported to have had a budget ranging from $110 million to $130 million, Sony’s final Marvel movie of the year was one of 2024’s biggest superhero flops, pulling in just $60 million at the global box office.

The story follows Kraven’s complex relationship with his father and his path to becoming the greatest and most feared hunter in the world.

The film stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Kraven and Russell Crowe as his father, but it seems not even the Hollywood star power could save it.

Sony has an ongoing deal with Netflix that ensures all of its theatrical releases land on the platform first for an exclusive streaming run. While hits like Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse have benefitted from this deal, it is unlikely that Kraven will enjoy the same success.

Reviews for Kraven the Hunter have been mixed, with many fans calling it a mess.

“Some films stick with you for all the wrong reasons,” one critic said. “Kraven the Hunter is one of those: an overambitious but utterly failed attempt at telling a dark antihero story that ends up feeling like an unintentional parody.”

Although some viewers found the movie entertaining so there could be hope for similar responses now it’s live on a streaming giant.

“Unpopular opinion: I actually found this film to be wildly entertaining, with the undertow themes of which place we call home and protecting the environment present but not too in your face,” a viewer praised. “The backstory of Kraven was well done and Aaron Taylor-Johnson is a treat to watch in the action scenes, I don’t know the source material but as a standalone film it had my attention throughout. Hope it gets a cult following one day.”

It got the ending its fans deserved

In the ruthless world of television, getting axed usually spells the end for a series. But every now and then, a show defies the odds — and Manifest did just that.

Once a forgotten casualty of network television, this well-watched supernatural drama was brought back to life by Netflix, transforming it into one of the most-watched series available on the streaming platform right now.

Originally airing on NBC, Manifest tells the mind-bending story of Montego Air Flight 828, which takes off from Jamaica but mysteriously lands in New York five years later. For the passengers, no time has passed, but for the rest of the world, they were presumed dead.

As they attempt to reintegrate into society, strange visions and unexplainable events start to unfold, leaving them entangled in a supernatural mystery.

Despite a devoted fan base that gave it ‘cult classic’ status, NBC pulled the plug after three seasons, leaving viewers hanging with an agonizing cliffhanger. But just when all hope seemed lost, Netflix swooped in — just like they had with other shows such as Lucifer — adding all previous seasons to its library and commissioning a two-part fourth season to properly conclude the story.

Melissa Roxburgh, who plays Michaela Stone, recalled her shock when she saw Manifest alongside Netflix juggernauts like Ozark and Better Call Saul. When talking to The Hollywood Reporter, she said: “I texted [showrunner] Jeff Rake and told him to turn on his TV,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “We were both like, where did this come from? We just couldn’t believe it.”

The decision to revive Manifest turned out to be a great move for the platform. The show quickly became a global sensation, skyrocketing to the #1 spot on Netflix and amassing millions of viewing hours. The first part of the final season alone racked up 57 million hours watched within just a few days of release.

For Roxburgh and the rest of the cast, the Netflix revival wasn’t just about tying up loose ends — it was about getting the send-off they deserved. She reflected on the difficulties of filming season three during the pandemic.

She said: “It was honestly horrible because it was still during peak Covid, so we couldn’t do a wrap party or anything. So we just sort of wrapped the season and that was it. If we had ended the show there, we all would have been a little bit depressed — I’m happy that Netflix brought us back, not only to finish the story but to give everyone a proper goodbye.”

Netflix’s move to save Manifest didn’t just satisfy fans — it cemented the show’s legacy as one of the biggest TV comebacks ever. What started as a cancelled cult classic became another streaming hit, proving once again that Netflix can have good foresight when it comes to saved axed shows to give them the new life they deserve.

Netflix finally releases trailer for iconic show with 92% on Rotten Tomatoes

The new season will see Joe return to New York City

Netflix has just released a new trailer for one of its most popular shows.

There are so many binge-worthy shows to look forward to this year. Just this month, we were treated to the third season of The White Lotus, Season 2 of Apple TV’s Severance – and, of course, next month’s return of HBO’s The Last of Us.

Well, your calendar for April is about to get even bigger because Netflix has just dropped the first trailer for You Season 5.

On 24 April 2025, Joe Goldberg is back for the final chapter of the hit thriller series.

Watch the trailer here:

The two-minute trailer promises a season of tension, action, revenge and reckoning as book-lover and murderer Joe (played by Penn Badgley) returns to New York City where it all began.

Three years after leaving London, Season 4 love interest Kate Lockwood (Charlotte Ritchie) makes a return as the powerful leader of her father’s company.

But, as expected, his past refuses to stay buried. The media starts digging into his dark history, and a mysterious new young woman named Bronte (Madeline Brewer) enters the picture, working at his bookstore.

In a final series wrap-up, fans are expecting big twists and a dramatic end to Joe’s story.

It’s already reached a score of 92% on Rotten Tomatoes and safe to say, fans on social media have been loving the trailer.

“Just give this man his Emmy already because this looks like it’s going to be his best acting yet, in this final season of You,” the first user wrote on YouTube.

“How is it possible this seems even darker than the other seasons,” another replied whilst one fan exclaimed: “This is gonna be the best season yet!”

If you haven’t started watching the show yet, here’s a quick plot synopsis. Since the show’s debut in 2018, Joe, a bookstore clerk-turned-serial-stalker, adopts different identities in his relentless pursuit of love. Although he tries to outrun his dark impulses, trouble always finds him.

Commenting on the upcoming series, executive producer Justin W. Lo reportedly told Netflix’s Tudum: “We loved the idea of things coming full circle for him. We’re excited by the fact that Joe came home as such a different person than [who] we saw in Season 1.

“At the core of our final story for Joe is this dichotomy of the old and the new.”

After Season 4 left fans wondering about Joe’s fate in 2023, the final season promises to tie up loose ends and finally answer the big question: Will Joe’s past finally catch up with him?

There is nothing worse that scrolling endlessly through all your streaming subscriptions, not knowing what to watch.

The list can get boring after a while but fear not, Netflix has added a new ‘mind bending’ horror movie that you ‘can’t easily forget’ after watching it.

Horror fans will rejoice after viewers of the film referred to it as a ‘cinema of nightmares’.

The 2023 horror was directed by Brandon Cronenberg, who is best known for directing Possessor in 2020.

Since then, he’s directed the Netflix film Infinity Pool which has a star studded cast including the likes of Alexander Skarsgård, Cleopatra Coleman and Mia Goth – who is best known for starring in the X horror series.

The film follows the story of a couple (played by Skarsgård and Coleman) who are enjoying an all-inclusive vacation before they are led away from their resort by a strange woman.

As things unfold, the pair begin to experience more and more violent elements of the resort.

All stemming from a horrific incident that happened on the island, the characters must now face death for their actions.

On the surface it’s a psychological trip with deeper themes running through, including class inequality and morality.

And the horror earned a generous rating of 87% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Many people took to the review site to share their own thoughts on the psychological thriller.

One viewer wrote: “This is a really cool and original story that made me feel like I was trapped in a time loop.”

Another said: “It’s most definitely not for those of weak constitutions – or faint hearts – but it’s also not a movie, once seen, you can easily forget.”

A third user explained: “Cronenberg is now going all-in for the cinema of nightmares, with a film that gets under the skin and itches, invades the brain and plays havoc with the synapses.”

A fourth commented: “There are movies that leave you wondering what exactly you watched and may even be unsettling. Enter, Infinity Pool.”

And a fifth viewer added: “I had to watch this movie twice (the 2nd time stoned) before I realized the magic of it. It’s a philosophical film. Exploring what depths of evil that humans could stoop to if no consequences for their actions and if they had plenty of wealth.”

If you’re feeling brave enough to have a watch of the horror film for yourself, it is now available to stream on Netflix.

Millions of Netflix viewers could face a huge fine if they break this rule while watching the platform’s latest show.

It will affect millions of users across the streaming platform who will need to make sure they have done one specific thing to avoid a fine.

The cost of the mistake could cost you up to £1,000 ($1,294) if you’re not careful.

However, you only need to worry about it if you’re based in the UK.

Netflix has got plenty of new shows on offer, whether that’s a true crime documentary like American Murder: Gabby Petito, Harlan Coben’s thriller series Missing You, or reality TV such as Love Is Blind.

Up until now, subscribers in the UK have been able to stream films and TV shows without needing to purchase a TV licence.

But all that is about to change as the platform introduces its new live show this Thursday (March 13).

The series, titled Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney, is set to become Netflix’s first ever late-night talk show, which comes after the success of the live Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight and several WWE shows.

The new show will air in the US at 10pm ET, which means it’ll appear in the UK at 2am.

However, if you’re hoping to tune in to this new addition to the streaming platform, you’ll need to make sure that you buy a TV licence, which is a legal requirement for watching live TV in the UK.

Failure to do so could land you with a hefty fine.

A spokesperson for TV licensing said: “A TV licence is needed to watch live content on streaming services, watch or record a TV programme on any channel, and when using BBC iPlayer.

“Further information is available on the TV licensing website or via the customer services team, who can help with any queries.”

The cost of a TV licence is currently £14.12 ($18.26) a month when you set up a direct debit or £169.50 ($219.25) for the year.

On the website, it states that having a licence allows you to watch all TV channels including the likes of the BBC, ITV and Channel 4.

It also enables you to stream live TV online on platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and YouTube.

But fear not, if you don’t have a TV licence you’re still allowed to watch and download any films and series on platforms such as Netflix as long as it isn’t live content.
